Our 4th was a "Blast"

As always, our neighborhood did a bang-up job celebrating our nation's independence. The day started with a parade from pool to pool {about 1/2 mile.} It appeared as if we were going to have a soggy start, but we were teased with a few sprinkles and then the rain stayed away. The entire day, the weather wavered back & forth between sticky & humid and breezy & pleasant. Who would have thought I'd need a jacket to watch the fireworks in the midwest in July? Following the parade, the HOA threw a bash complete with a 35' inflatable slide, facepainters, balloon artists, a fire-truck a DJ and an ice-cream man! It was a big kiddie free-for-all as the kids roamed from one activity to another and the parents frantically tried keeping tabs on their kiddos. After looking for Roman & Jason for almost a half hour, I finally saw them coming towards me and at closer glance - Roman was soaking wet! He had jumped in the pool with his clothes on! That afternoon, the Leluga's unveiled their newly finished basement and had their annual party complete with over 100 pounds of smoked meat and 40 pounds of boiled crawfish... compliments of Savage BBQ. The Wagoner's bought a pinata for the kid's while the adults played washers. At dusk, a few fireworks were lit - mostly parachutes for the kids to chase & catch. Then at dark, we all headed up to the round-about {the highest point in the neighborhood} and simultaneously watched our HOA fireworks show plus the Parkville show, the Weatherby Lake show, and various other random's lighting their own personal fireworks. Had the cloud cover not been there, we could have seen several others as we did in years past when the skies were clear.
